ICKNIELD RALLY 11th - 12th June 2011
Icknield Weekend Run
The Icknield Weekend Run will be held over the weekend of 11th/12th June in the Peak District of Derbyshire. Members are invited to attend both or
either of the days, which will take the form of scenic drives along minor roads in this very pretty part of the country.
Saturday 11th June
Meet in the car park alongside the Fox House Inn on the A625, about seven miles south-west of Sheffield City Centre (grid reference SK 267803), at 11.00am.
Members arriving via the M1 from the south are advised to leave the motorway at either Junctions 29 or 29A and head towards Chesterfield to pick
up the B6051 and the B6054 to arrive at the Fox House Inn in about 20 minutes from leaving the motorway. If you wish to trailer your BSA to the event,
then trailer parking can be made available at a farm close to Junction 29A, but this must be booked in advance by contacting me before the rally.
The first part of the run will be about 25 miles in length, to arrive at our lunch stop at the Rambler Inn at Edale. I would like to give the pub some
idea about numbers, so if you are going to attend, please let me know.
Following lunch, the second part of the run will be about 35 miles in length, and will finish near Bakewell. We hope to meet up with members on the
Saturday evening for a meal and a drink.
Sunday 12th June
We shall assemble in the car park of the Peak Village shopping complex at Rowsley, which is about three miles south of Bakewell on the A6. The B6012
signposted to Beeley and Chatsworth is a left turn off the A6 from the Bakewell direction, and Peak Village is a short distance along this road on the left.
We shall meet at 10.30am.
The Sunday run will be about 30 miles in length and we shall finish at the Carsington Water Visitor Centre, where refreshments are available.
Unfortunately there is a car parking fee of £2.50 per vehicle. I have chosen this spot to finish the run because it isn't too far from the
motorway for those who have a long journey home.
