RWD BSA From The Thirties

These are the details of the BSA for sale on e-bay:-
Regisration AXV460
1934 10 hp 4 door saloon (restored)

An extremely rare survivor which was restored about 12 years ago, and has been in dry storage since. Body believed to be built by Mulliner.

We are offering this car for sale on behalf of the owner who now lives in the USA. He was going to have the car shipped out there, and instructed us to do everything necessary to get it into full working order after a long period of storage at a cost of £2500. This has been done, but he has changed his mind, and the car is offered for sale with a very realistic reserve.

We have a V5 document with the original registration, but unfortunately no other history.

Bodywork & Chassis

The body and chassis are in good condition throughout. The car has been repainted in its original green and black colour scheme, but this was done in cellulose more than 12 years ago, so there are one or two marks on the front wings and a little micro blistering on the flat surfaces of the bonnet. The chrome is original and in good condition for its age. The sliding roof still opens easily, but fabric on its rear edge has a small split.

The car is fitted with an opening windscreen. All 4 doors open from the B post easily and fit well. There is no evidence of any deterioration to the body frame.

Overall it looks very smart and has that original patina.

Mechanics

Apparently the 10 hp BSA side valve engine was rebuilt by a local engineering fir, and had only been test run until recently. We have now overhauled the starter motor, dynamo and fuel system, fitted a new 12 volt battery cleaned and adjusted the brakes, set up the steering and driven the car to an M.O.T. station where it obtained a test certificate. The engine sounds lovely and ticks over smoothly. The fluid flywheel and pre-selector gearbox appear to work correctly. Obviously the engine will want gently running in. The BSA...
